Ben Nikkel's route to the NFL has been anything but conventional. Before becoming a safety at Iowa State, he spent three seasons as a wide receiver at McPherson College, where he recorded 107 receptions for 1,570 yards and 10 touchdowns. After transferring to Iowa State, he made the transition to the defensive side of the ball and continued developing his game in the secondary.

Nikkel entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Washington in 2024 and later joined the Colts practice squad in 2025. Indianapolis signed him to a Reserve/Future contract in January 2026, and he now appears on the Colts active roster as No. 34, giving him another opportunity to establish himself at safety.

For supporters who enjoy following players with an unconventional football background, the Ben Nikkel Jersey offers a distinctive connection to the Colts roster. His transition from catching passes to defending them reflects adaptability and persistence—qualities that make his NFL journey especially interesting to follow as he continues competing for opportunities in Indianapolis.
